Our Apparatus

53 Engine 1 is a 2016 Pierce Velocity, making it the newest piece in our fleet. 53 Engine 1 has an 850 gallon water tank and is capable of pumping water at 2000 gallons per minute (GPM). 53 Engine 1 runs first due out of the South Firehouse for most calls within the Township and mutual aid requests.

The firefighters in the cab have access to a multitude of hand and gas powered tools such as a combustible 4-gas detector, natural gas detector, a FLIR Thermal imaging camera, Halligan bars, axes, pike poles, Partner saws and much more. Most importantly, they have access to thousands of feet of attack and supply hose. Firefighters in the cab each have their own Scott SCBA Air Pack, portable radios and flashlights. The officer in the front seat has access to radios, an iPad for report-taking, a Scott SCBA Pack and a FLIR Thermal Imaging Camera.

53 Engine 1 is capable of transporting seven firefighters including the driver, officer, and five firefighters in the cab.

53 Ladder is a 1996 Pierce Lance 100' Ladder truck. 53 Ladder, our oldest truck in the fleet, runs out of the South Firehouse and serves as the department's sole Ladder Company. The purposes of a Ladder Company are to search (for victims and fire), rescue, ventilate and ladder the building; 53 Ladder can do all of that. It has eight ground ladders ranging from 6' to 35', in addition to the 100' aerial ladder. The aerial ladder cannot always be utilized, so it is important to carry ground ladders so firefighters can access the roof and windows on upper floors.

 
53 Ladder also carries a multitude of hand tools, saws, ventilation fans and has pre-connected hose lines that can make the truck act as an Engine if the need arises.  

53 Ladder can carry seven firefighters including a chauffeur, officer and five firefighters in the rear. 

53 Rescue is a 2010 Pierce Velocity Heavy Rescue. The Rescue runs out of the South Firehouse and is first due to any car accident or rescue emergency. 53 Rescue also serves as the department's FAST truck. FAST teams (Firefighter Assist and Search Team), are called to the scene of a structure fire or any prolonged emergency and are prepared to enter the building if a firefighter goes down. FAST team equipment includes an SCBA, stokes basket, multiple hand tools, lights, radios, a Thermal Imaging Camera, ropes and webbing.  

In addition to FAST equipment, 53 Rescue also carries extrication and stabilization equipment.  carries one hydraulic spreader, one hydraulic cutter, a combination tool, five gas-powered saws, dozens of pieces of cribbing, pneumatic tools, ropes, chains, power tools and a Man vs. Machine kit. 53 Rescue is essentially a toolbox on wheels. 

It has the ability to transport eight firefighters, including a chauffeur, officer and six firefighters in the rear. Each firefighter has access to an SCBA, flashlight, portable radio, four-gas detector and hand tools.

53 Squad is the the lone apparatus at the North Firehouse. It is a 2006 Pierce Dash powered by a Detroit Diesel 60 Series motor. It boasts a 2000 GPM Waterous pump, and carries 750 Gallons of water. The Squad carries basic stabilization equipment for vehicular accidents, as well as an electronic “combi-tool” to perform extrications. Extrication capability isn’t the Squads' only unique ability; it is also the only engine in the fleet that carries a trident nozzle, which can be used at major incidents for mass-decontamination. 

In addition to a driver and officer, the Squad is capable of carrying 6 firefighters in the crew cab. These firefighters have access to a combination of both traditional hand tools, like axes, halligan bars, and hooks, as well some high-tech pieces of equipment such as a 4-gas meter, a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), and even a tablet for taking reports. Being the only apparatus out of the North Firehouse, the Squad has to be ready for anything; it is a true Jack-of-All-Trades.

53 Engine 2, a 2000 Pierce Lance, operates out of the South Firehouse and is the department's third due Engine. 53 Engine 2 served as 53 Engine 1 from 2000 to 2017. It has a wide array of uses such as being a front line pumper to functioning as a parade detail apparatus. 53 Engine 2 has seven seats; one for the chauffeur, one for the Officer and five for the firefighters.
